The information on this site is intended to provide an overview of our philosophy for patient education, patient selection, patient preparation and expectations for significant and sustainable weight loss.

Open Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery has been performed at Auburn Memorial Hospital for more than two decades by Dr. Chung Oh. Therefore, the staff at AMH is well trained in the care of the bariatric patient. Dr. Carl Weiss, Surgical Director, is fellowship trained in minimally invasive surgery with extensive experience in laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Dr. Weiss is dedicated to performing bariatric surgery, devoting at least 60% of his practice to this specialty.

Christy VanOstrand, RN, NM, is our Weight Loss Program Coordinator; Jessica Heron, RD, is our Surgical Bariatric Dietitian; Rebecca Boyea, RD, CDE, is our Medical Dietitian; Daniela Kowal, PT, is our exercise consultant; and Jennifer Avery is the Manager of Dr. Scinta’s Manlius office. All of our staff is dedicated to helping all our patients in their fight against obesity and obesity-related illnesses.
